There's a new version of Corel's WordPerfect shipping this spring. Does it matter for any reasons other than sentiment? The word processing package emerged in 1980 and became dominant in the middle part of that decade by surpassing rivals such as MultiMate and WordStar. As you know, it's nearly impossible to accurately track your email time with merely a start/stop timer. You're probably bouncing from email to email in rapid fire mode. The last thing you want to worry about is timekeeping, especially if you switch from one client to another as you reply to email messages.

Salamander Davoudi (@sdavoudi) of the Financial Times reports that publishing giant, Reed Elsevier, denies reports that LexisNexis is for sale. Management intends to pursue only small-scale merger and acquisition activity within its five divisions over the next 12 months, according to two people familiar with the company’s plans, and has no plans to sell its Lexis-Nexis Legal & Professional business despite calls for its divestiture. This is very useful to sort out the layout issues in a Word document, by turning on the non-printed characters you get to see the tabs, spaces and carriage returns in the document that may be causing the trouble. Very, very useful if you are working on somebody else’s document.
