Think of the MP1055 as your TV’s Jukebox. You provide the hard disk, memory stick or memory card, and the MP1055 plays or views almost everything on it – from digital images and mp3s to Full HD MKV files. It even plays the FLV format which is used by YouTube and most other video sites to stream video content over the web. The MKV format is often used to make copies of Blu-Ray Discs as the file format supports Full HD, subtitles and language options making it possible for you to copy your entire Blu-Ray collection onto a hard-disk and browse and play through the content easily with the device’s remote control. Playback quality on the device is superb, and stutter free, in Full HD. The device has no moving parts, it is ultra-small, and plugs into your HDMI cable without hassle. It also supports analogue options for older TVs. Unlike most other Multimedia Players, the MP1055 doesn’t have its own storage built in, but I see this rather as a convenience as it makes it easy to connect various external hard-disks via USB. I tested the device with a massive 2 terabyte hard-disk and it had no difficulty whatsoever to play the media off the disk – enough space to keep hundreds of movies.
