There is a revolution happening in the legal profession as more and more small to medium-sized law firms are starting to sell legal agreements and contracts via the Internet. In his book “The End of Lawyers?” UK legal technology futurist Richard Susskind predicted a constant shift towards commoditisation in the legal profession. With online document assembly tools like XpressDox for the Cloud, his predictions are now becoming reality. Until recently, document assembly software for the Internet was too expensive for all but the really large law firms. But now all that has changed.

Researchers have successfully demonstrated the safety of a single-pixel wirelessly powered display on a contact lens on a rabbit’s eye. At the moment, the contact lens device contains only a single pixel of information, but the researchers say it is a proof of the concept that the device could be worn by a person. Microsoft loses Supreme patent fight over Word |

America's top court has rejected Microsoft's appeal against a ruling that Microsoft Word infringed on patents owned by a tiny Canadian software maker. The US Supreme Court unanimously upheld an earlier court's ruling that said Microsoft willfully infringed on i4i's XML patents in Word 2003 and 2007. Microsoft was ordered to pay i4i almost $300m in damages and told in the ruling that it could no longer ship Word 2003 and 2007 with the offending code. Microsoft issued a patch to sidestep the XML code and continue selling its software. Read more at The Register....

A state judge in Suffolk County has ordered a mother to make her two children available for Skype online video conferencing with their father as a condition of her move to Florida.
