Reporting bad service

PDF Print E-mail

bad-servicePeter Cheales is a well known speaker and author in South Africa who focuses on the topic of exceptional service. For a long time now Peter has been frustrated with poor service and I think like most of us, even more so when on the receiving end. A while ago Peter launched a portal to assist the consumer community.

The site is called "Hello Peter" - www.hellopeter.com, and the intention as Peter puts it, "is simple: to increase service levels of our suppliers". The site has been around for some 12 months, but I think it is a great service to the South African public to allow the consumer better service from the sometimes bullying corporate suppliers.

To log a report on bad service, merely register and then tell your story. If the supplier is a registered as a "Companies Who Respond" supplier they will be notified within seconds by Hello Peter and should respond - if they are half decent at customer service. The service to consumers is free, however the suppliers who are registered have to pay an annual fee of approximately R300, and an additional fee per response should they receive more than 4 reports per year. So an extra incentive for the corporations to improve their service as the less complaints they get, the less they pay Hello Peter.

The suppliers through their response have a chance at "changing lemons into lemonade", to turn the complaint around into a positive response from the consumer, which earns them a better rating on the site.

Not all roads need to lead to litigation; it could be a service to your consumer clients to first give Hello Peter a try before going down the legal process. I know it sounds strange, but your customer will be far more receptive to your fees if they know you have offered them an alternative to pursue on their own before coming to a professional. Sure some people will have their issues resolved, but those that use your services will return time and time again. Plus, the goal really is to ensure that your customer is happy!

Well done Peter, a great service to the consumer.

Bad service from Vodacom!!! Waiting 3 weeks for itemised billing. Filled in 5 forms, sent ID, wrote Letters, e-mails, nothing helps.Went to H.O. Still no itemised billing.E-mail to CEO - Still no itemised billing!! Service in South Africa is REALY BAD, not even a public website forces suppliers to give good service. Where has our pride gone to?

Duane

I would go into a Vodacom service centre to sort out your problem, you are just going to get more and more frustrated.

More than a month ago I reported a network problem that I can’t make calls, although I have full signal. The error that I’m getting is “Emergency calls only”. After taking my Sim out and putting it back its back to normal (full signal AND i can make calls). Unfortunately I’m not the only one. I’ve even bought a new phone as the phone I got from Vodacom was also jinxed. I received a sms to inform me that Vodacom will get back to me. To date, NOTHING!!

Second thing, I was always able to connect on 3G. This then went down to HSDPA (I think that’s what it’s called?). This was reported about a week to two weeks ago, NOTHING! From this weekend, GPRS! GPRS!!!

Today I tried calling as I’ve had it with the “no feedback” attitude and bad (or no) Network. Then humour finally came home... I dialled 111 and I got an error message that stated “No answer”...

Two hours later and still not getting trough!

Pants On Fire is a new SA complaints site that uses social media as a platform for complaints. Complaints are answered quickly as it is easy to log in and answer. The more complaint sites the better. Let the small guy have a voice.

Ant & Elephant restaurant and lodge outside Hazyview, the owners there was very unfriendly and we had to go to another restaurant because they don't allow children. They say on their advertising bord and website they are platinum rated, I have searched but can't find their name under the tourismgrading
