 Avid Firefly has signed up a number of progressive law firms for its Smartphone-based conveyancing costs calculator in the past two months. “There is a marked increase in the number of firms who use FireFly to disseminate conveyancing costs information, instead of the traditional cost booklets,” said Barry Swart, CEO of Avid Software. Firefly includes calculators for Transfer Costs, Bond Costs, Monthly Bond Installments, Bond Affordability, Agent Commission, Price per Square Meter and even Capital Gains Tax.

 The Regibond Module used for downloading ABSA instructions and making payment advices, will be terminated at the end of November 2009 . From 1 November your Vendor will download the instruction data from the ABSA Bond Centre, without the use of the RegiBond Module. The instruction data is necessary for the production of your ABSA documents that do not reside on the ABSA Bond Centre.
The ABSA Bond Centre will support capture of the payment details for the purposes of producing the Loan Debit Authority document via the ABSA Bond Centre. (ATP) The ABSA Bond Centre also supports milestone synchronization, allowing your milestones you have completed on the Bond Centre to be downloaded into your practice software packages or reporting systems. The month of November will be used for rollout and training, and to allow for Vendor Package updates. The RegiBond Module will still be supported for payments and instruction download until 30 November, after which payment advice may only be made via the Bond Centre. For more information contact

 A primary user is a user who is able to manage, edit and update all user accounts under his/her company profile on the WinDeed system. The primary user can add new users to an organisation's WinDeed account and their searches will be included on that organisation's monthly WinDeed invoice. WinDeed will send an e-mail to the primary user and the new user confirming his/her registration. Deleting a user from the WinDeed system immediately removes the user from the WinDeed account and, from that point onwards, he/she will not be able to perform any searches.  Bond applicants will now be offered home loan assurance via the GhostConvey system. Conveyancers will receive a referral fee of up to 2.7x the initial monthly instalment for the introduction. The role of the attorney is simply to establish whether the applicant would like to be contacted by a qualified consultant to discuss the details of an appropriate policy. The attorney will have no further involvement. Good to see a source of revenue for the conveyancers!

 ABSA Cancellations attorneys are now using a new web based system from Monday 2 November. The new cancellations system is entirely web based and does not require any software to be installed or maintained in the attorneys environment besides the L@W issued personal digital certificate. This means that the system is easier to maintain, accessible to remote users and easier to use. There is no need to synchronise data as is the case with RegiNET, and any action taken by a user is immediately processed by L@W and sent to Absa where applicable. RegiNET will still be available to view historic information, but no actions taken on RegiNET will be sent to Absa. RegiNET will still be used for CPF loans.
