sars-pcThe deadline for the manual submissions to SARS is looming and we emailed Cathy Gibbens of SARS Business Systems – Service to clarify some facts which we think, will assist paralegals when dealing with the eFiling system.

When is the cut-off date for the manual submissions on the Transfer Duty declarations and payments?
Cathy:

The Transfer Duty Act provides as follows:
With effect from 1 January 2011, all Transfer Duty declarations and payments must be submitted electronically via the SARS e-filing system. However, SARS EXCO has granted an extension until 31 March 2011 for the acceptable of manually submitted declaration and payments to SARS Branch Offices.

Is there a downloadable guide they can use?
Cathy:
The following hyperlink will be available soon for referrals: Transfer Duty on eFiling: A Quick Guide

Is there a forum where they can ask questions about e-Transfer Duty?
Cathy:
SARS National Call Centre – 0800 00 7277

Is there a special number people can call dedicated to e-Transfer Duty?
Cathy:
SARS National Call Centre – 0800 00 7277

Are there on-going workshops to assist newcomers to the system?
Cathy:
No the SARS e-Filing transfer duty system has been in operation since 2005. Most conveyancers should be used to the system.

Is there a wish list area where they can submit ideas to improve on the system?
Cathy:
SARS would appreciate any suggestions to improve our service to taxpayers/conveyancers as well as our system. Please feel free to mail any suggestions to cgibbens@sars.gov.za I will discuss suggestions on a regular basis with management.

Thanks Cathy.
