LODGEMENT TO REGISTRATION TURNAROUND TIMES:-
With regards to the backlogs in the Pietermaritzburg Deeds Registry it has now been established that:-
1. The Dishout/Distribution section allocated deeds which were lodged up to the 26th of May 2021 to examiners for examination on Monday, 07 June 2021;
2. The bulk of the lodgements of the 18th and 19th of May 2021 are now making its way to Fees/Prep. Some matters which were lodged up to the 24th of May 2021 are now also starting to arrive at Fees/Prep (the general turnaround time from lodgement to registration is therefore currently between 12- 16 working days);
3. Ownership details on matters registered up to the 01st of June 2021 are currently being updated on the data records; and
4. The bulk of the deeds we are receiving delivery of are matters which were registered around the 15th of May 2021.
This is a visible improvement in the turnaround times, which has a positive effect on the clearing of the existing backlogs.
