Not a great number of votes but it seems the majority agree that a law firm should close over the festive period, but …
The issue of whether the firm should close between 23rd December and the first week of January or the 15th December and the first week of January is rather evenly split.
I think the real answer lies in whether your clients expect your firm to be open or not – some departments in law may find that they have no option.
If you really want to know ask your customers what they feel is reasonable for that time of the year – if 30% think you should stay open – have 30% staff stick around. (I know it is not that easy, but it does give you an idea.)
Seems a real waste of time, money and moral to stay open when there is no business coming in.
