The seminar is an authoritative annual update on developments in labour law. It deals with the state of labour law and the labour market generally, and covers key areas of importance to employers, trade unions and practitioners. These include ongoing strikes and strike violence, changes in patterns of trade union organisation and membership; the impact of changes to the law on labour broking and outsourcing; and litigation in the labour courts, including the review of arbitration awards.
Keeping current with developments in labour law is challenging. Each year the law evolves, sometimes rapidly, with amendments to laws and a growing body of cases interpreting them. The law evolves, too, with changing judges and changing external circumstances. This seminar is presented by leading experts in a way that will both engage you on the issues and keep you fully up to date. Its unique selling points are that it is authoritative (the presenters are leading experts in the field); and the engaging and accessible style of its presentation.
Key topics that will be addressed at the event include:
· Individual employment law (including dismissals and unfair labour practices)
· Key developments in the public sector
· CCMA practice and procedure
· Organisational rights and collective bargaining
· Discrimination, employment equity and equal pay
· Restructuring and retrenchments
· Strikes and lock-outs.
