Professor Richard Susskind, one of the most cited authors globally on the future of legal services and the impact of AI on society, will be a keynote speaker at the Legal Innovation Summit hosted by CatalyNT on 28 August 2025 in Johannesburg.
The Legal Innovation Summit is a full-day hybrid conference that will explore the realities of operating in a world shaped by artificial intelligence, data and digital transformation, while exploring how legal functions are transforming to stay relevant, strategic, and effective in an AI- and data-driven world.

Prof. Susskind is the author of eleven books including The Future of Law (1996), Tomorrow’s Lawyers (2013, 2017, 2023), The Future of the Professions (with D Susskind, 2015, 2022), Online Courts and the Future of Justice (2019, 2021) and How to Think About AI (2025). His work has been translated into 18 languages. He has also contributed more than 150 columns to The Times in the UK. He is President of the Society for Computers and Law, and for 25 years served as Technology Adviser to the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales. Susskind is an Honorary King’s Counsel and was promoted to CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in King Charles III’s New Year Honours List 2025.
The Legal Innovation Summit will bring together legal professionals, technology innovators, policymakers and academics for engaging dialogues on key topics such as legal innovation, technology, and the future of legal services.
