Webber Wentzel is proud to have received two awards in the prestigious African Legal Awards hosted by Legal Week and the Corporate Lawyers Association of South Africa in Johannesburg on Friday 8 September, 2017.
The firm received the awards for Competition and Regulatory Team of the Year and Intellectual Property Team of the Year. The firm was also “highly commended” in the Employment Team of the Year category. Webber Wentzel was shortlisted in almost all categories and received 13 nominations. The nominations across so many critical categories is an endorsement of Webber Wentzel’s standing in the African legal market.
“Webber Wentzel is honoured by the recognition we received at the African Legal Awards 2017, but it would not have been possible without the opportunity to work with our world-class clients. We are inspired by their commitment and drive to create organisations that have put South African businesses on the map. We are grateful that our clients have entrusted us with their business and we look forward to working alongside them for many years to come,” says Christo Els, Senior Partner at Webber Wentzel.
Webber Wentzel continues to play a key role in driving the rule of law across Africa as demonstrated by the work of its pro bono team. The work of the Pro Bono Practice is guided by the recognised need to narrow the divide between the advantaged and disadvantaged members of South African society; and a commitment to promote the transformative goals of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and equal justice for all.
“As an associate member of ALN, we are also incredibly proud of fellow ALN member firm Anjarwalla & Khanna’s award of African Law Firm of the Year,” concludes Els.
