Ten years on, and still going strong…Limpopo Provincial Legislature gain further workflow efficiencies from Powerhouse Dictation via Winscribe.
The Limpopo Provincial Legislature (LPL) is the primary legislative body of Limpopo, located in South Africa. The governing body provide several official documents and analysis reports for the South African government and population, along with representing communities and businesses with legal matters.
In early 2005 LPL approached Powerhouse Dictation for guidance on a Hansard Recording solution incorporating workflow functionality. Powerhouse Dictation suggested Winscribe as the best solution for the governing body’s requirements and after numerous meetings and presentation, the rollout was implemented.
After the first week of using the solution, LPL users quickly experienced the efficiencies in workflow – with users being able to locate all Hansard recordings and produced the required documents, speeding up their processes. The Hansard team enjoyed the ability to segment and distribute legislature recordings evenly among the available transcriptionists. This ensured timeous completion of transcripts of the sessions held in the legislature. LPL rolled out Winscribe, upgrading software assurance and software versions, year on year for the last 10 years.

The First Legislature of the Province was formally established in 1994, the Second was constituted in 1999, the third in 2004 and the fouth in 2009. It is made up of Members of Provincial Legislature popularly known as MPLs.
There are 49 seats in the Limpopo Legislature. The following Political Parties secured seats in the 2009 – fouth democratic elections. The African National Congress (ANC) won 43 seats thus becoming the majority party in the House. The following secured seats each, Congress of the people (COPE) four seats, Democratic Alliance (DA) 2 seats.
