Signals by Hubspot is a free application that integrates with MS Outlook or Gmail and notifies you when the recipient reads, opens or clicks on a link in the email you have sent them.
The company behind this product, Hubspot is an inbound marketing software company that helps companies attract leads and convert them to customers.
Signals is available to anyone at http://www.getsignals.com or from the Chrome Web Store. I use it to monitor who has read my email so that I know when to call them to discuss the content.
It is not as sophisticated or as thorough as secure email solutions but as a simple read notifying tool I find it very useful.
