Feedback on Conveyancers Committee Meeting with Management (14th July 2025)

Proposed new Deeds Office Layout:

    • Ground Floor: Information section
    • 1st Floor: Archive, Server, IT section
    • 2nd & 3rd Floors: Core function areas including execution room, registration section, preps. lodgment, VA section and miscellaneous services.
    • 4th Floor: Examiners, corporate services- service of court papers.
    • 5th floor: a wing on this floor might be allocated to management, but this is still being decided upon.

    Timeframes:

    • The Deeds Office will comprise floors 1-5 of 28 Harrisson street.
    • Cleaning and modifications of floors1-5 above is expected to be completed by 1 September 2025, when final move to these floors is anticipated.
    • In the meantime, pending move to the floors1-5, floors 8,9,10 have been made available by the landlord to be utilized temporarily. We will therefor first operate from the temporary floors 8,9 and 10 as from about 4 August before moving to the final space on the bottom floors 1-5 by 1 September. On the temporary floors, the space will be limited, but once we move to the final floors, we should have the same space as we have at present.
    • Please, at this stage keep in mind that the timeframes given above are flexible and might be moved forward. We will communicate this to you as soon as management informs us. We have been informed by management that at the very least Marble Towers will be something of the past by latest 1 September 2025.

    Parking Information:

    There is no parking available directly in the building for Conveyancers.

    Drummond garage on Loveday Street: you can arrange this parking yourself. Application form and procedure will be posted after this Notice.
    There is talk of a shuttle service between this facility and the Deeds Office, but please note that we have received no formal communication on this issue yet.

    Marshall Street Parking: There is an open air parking option called Marshall Street parking, approximately 150 meters from the Deeds Office. It costs R40/ day but you will need to make arrangements with the person running the facility directly. He is on the premises.

    Surrounding Area: There is also parallel parking in the streets surrounding the Deeds Office, but this is just an observation, and we cannot guarantee how safe this will be.

    We cannot provide guarantees concerning parking availability and encourage you to explore which options work best for your needs as we transition.
    We’ll communicate more updates as we gather further information.
    Management is coordinating the transition to ensure minimal disruption and optimal functionality. In this regard, a committee has been appointed. Timelines are moving quickly, and further updates will be communicated as information is confirmed. We have already been requested by management to attend another meeting with them this coming Thursday at 11:30.
