And with that, the Legal TALK Africa 2025 has come to a close.
English poet, Geoffrey Chaucer is often credited with the proverb – “All good things must come to an end.”
An unfortunate, yet true, idiom that often reflects the reality of all of our situations. Yes, the fun must end. The curtains do fall and the show – while it goes on – must come to a close.
There is an ending to even the most profound story, the happiest of happenings, the most fun gatherings and we have reached ours. The 26th of August spent in the splendid venue of D’Aria in Cape Town signified the end of the 2025 Legal Talk Africa, and it has been one hell of a ride!
From the “Gem of Africa” with its rich natural beauty and abundant wildlife, like the vast Kalahari Desert and Okavango Delta to the “land of the big sky”, Botswana and Namibia were undoubtedly highlights of this year’s Legal Talk Africa and proved to be a tremendous success. We then moved our journey southward and travelled from the windy city to the friendly city, highveld to the lowveld, City of Gold to the Mother City – our road trip has spanned the length and breadth of our vast country in a swirl of greens, blues, greys, and browns. A mosaic of colours, of smiles, of welcomes and handshakes.
We have drunk rich aromatic coffee and filled our bellies with hearty breakfast after breakfast – the most important meal of the day they say! We have gathered in historic buildings steeped in familial history and intrigue, been graced with South Africa’s biodiversity in the most exquisite of ways and have delighted our senses with views galore.
We have mingled, we have networked, we have chatted and caught up with valuable clients and colleagues. Mostly, it’s been a joy to be in the company of lawyers and legal professionals from all corners of South Africa. It has been a tapestry of speciality, of areas of focus, of size of practice, of unique character and disposition – each legal eagle bringing their own uniqueness to the show. And what a show it has been.
Brought to you by …

Our speakers – where do we even start? They put in time, blood, sweat, and tears into preparing for the events, and literally gave their all each time they stepped out in front of all of you – our attendees.
We are simply amazed at their dedication, their exuberance, their passion, and their tenacity. It was a marvel to witness them bring their A-game every time and in each location. We watched as the proverbial “light” came on as attendees realised the benefits of what our speakers had to say. And that wouldn’t have happened had it not been for the speakers’ commitment to Legal Talk Africa and the topic – Harnessing AI & Smart Technologies for Growth.
We believe, wholeheartedly, that the2025 Legal Talk Africa was a resounding success. Marvellous days outside the office, where attendees all gained valuable insights from industry leaders, who all explored innovative solutions. With all that said we would like to take this opportunity to thank our speakers –
- Tshepo Mochabang (SBA);
- Tertia Barrett and Kelsey Read (nCino);
- Barry Swart (AJS);
- Azhar Aziz Ismail (JAA) & Conrad van der Vyver (PAA);
- Andre van Jaarsveldt (Legal Serve);
- George Findlay (LexisNexis), and
- Mari van Wyk (Legal Talk Africa).

- Our other sponsors – Currencies Direct, nQ ZebraWorks, Khwezi Holdings, Nashua, Shackleton Risk and Payspace, your contributions made the 2025 Legal Talk Africa possible.
- The venues for hosting us – the Riverside Hotel in Durban, Fusion Boutique Hotel in Polokwane, Pretoria Country Club in Pretoria, the Bryanston Country Club in Johannesburg, Horseshoe Motel, in Kimberley, the Ramblers Club in Bloemfontein, the East London Golf Club in East London, Savages Fine Food in Gqeberha, Fairy Knowe in George and lastly D’Aria Winery in Cape Town
- All the behind-the-scenes staff, supports and organisers, with special mention going to Mari Van Wyk – the central pivot of the Legal Talk Africa – as well as every staff member involved in the Legal Talk Africa event who went above and beyond to ensure that everything ran smoothly, and everyone’s needs were taken care of – without all of you, these events would not have been the success they were. Thank you to all of you!
- All attendees! We have said this before, but it bears repeating – without you, there wouldn’t be an us. So, it stands to reason that without your attendance, without your participation and without your genuine interest, the Legal Talk Africa would have just been a couple of people having breakfast, talking about AI and how it can be harnessed to support optimal growth.
We look forward to planning another Legal Talk Africa event soon! Watch this space…
