SASLAW 2018 Conference

The 21st SASLAW conference will be held on the 7th and 8th September at Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town. The 2nd African labour law conference will be held on the 6th September. SASLAW delegates are able to register from 4pm on the 6th September and attend the evening function on the 6th September.

SASLAW is a relevant and dynamic association which promotes the discipline of Labour Law in South Africa.

The Society has 1300 members. The membership is made of attorneys , advocates, HR professionals, CCMA commissioners, trade union officials and Bargaining councils.  Over 50 events a year are arranged in the 5 chapters in South Africa.  SASLAW’s annual conference is seen as the leading event for Labour Law professionals in the country.  Delegates meet to learn, network, discuss and benchmark.  As well as exciting Key Note speakers,  detailed below, the programme includes a mix of case law update, technical issues within the discipline of Labour Law and thought provoking discussions on relevant and topical issues, such as the Labour Court rules, the Gig economy, social media misconduct, sexual harassment in the workplace and many other interesting topics.

The conference will be opened by Judge President of the Labour Court, Judge Basheer Waglay. The Key note address will be given by Minister of Economic affairs, Mr Ebrahim Patel, and SASLAW is very pleased to advise that Adv Thuli Madonsela, former Public Protector of South Africa, will address the delegates on Saturday 8th September on the Ethics of Labour Law.
