One hot, sunny Saturday afternoon, a pastor and his family had just brought home a new kitten. They were trying to build the kitten’s confidence, so they placed it on a tree branch. The kitten ran along but slipped and was left hanging on the branch, unable to pull itself up. Despite their efforts, they couldn’t reach it.
The pastor, known for his creative ideas, assured his family, “Don’t worry, I have a plan.” He decided to use his car to lower the branch. Tying a rope from the tree to his car, he slowly drove forward, bending the tree, a little more and the tree bent a little further down. Then …. Poof, the rope snapped and the kitten was flung in the opposite direction and far away into the neighbourhood.
That seemed like the end of the story – but two weeks later, while visiting a member of his congregation, the pastor noticed his kitten in the hallway.
Without mentioning his experience, he commented, “What a lovely kitten! How long have you had her?”
The lady replied, “Pastor, you won’t believe this! Two weeks ago, my son Johnny begged me for a kitten. I told him we couldn’t have one, but he wouldn’t stop pestering me. So, I said, ‘Let’s kneel in the garden and pray to Jesus. If He wants you to have a kitten, He’ll send one.’
And, pastor, you won’t believe what happened…”
