The Department of Correctional Services will spend R10-million installing video-conferencing technology in all its 53 centres to allow victims of crimes to be part of the parole process. Correctional Services acting national commissioner Zach Modise said that in terms of Section 299A of the Criminal Procedure Act, victims or their relatives had a right to make representations on parole of offenders serving terms for murder, rape, robbery, sexual assault and kidnapping.
