lexisnexis logoJohannesburg, 20 May 2013:  LexisNexis® South Africa, a leading provider of content and technology solutions, today announced the launch of Practical Guidance, a first-of-its-kind online research tool to assist industry professionals in South Africa. Following overwhelming success in the UK and Australia, Practical Guidance is now available from LexisNexis South Africa.

The Practical Guidance product is a web-based solution that provides users with online access to guidance material authored by expert practitioners in their field. The solution gives users access to LexisNexis commentary, checklists, case law, legislation and forms & precedents. The content is structured by practice areas, each with a specific focus, and Practical Guidance for Labour Law is the first to market.

“This practical tool is relevant in the South African context, especially in areas such as Labour Law and Tax –fields that are fraught with complexity. With the Labour Relations Act being tested in ways that were never anticipated and the Income Tax Act being amended on a frequent basis, Practical Guidance ensures that industry professionals can stay on top of changes in the law and gives them the confidence to know that they are making the right decisions at all times,” said Billy Last, CEO LexisNexis South Africa.

“Practical Guidance content is structured around key topics within each practice area and focuses on providing users with practical information on the “what-to” and “how-to” questions, complimenting existing LexisNexis commentaries that can be accessed for deeper research,” added Larsen Lockwood-Hall, Strategy & Business Development Executive at LexisNexis South Africa. “For example, HR and Legal professionals will have direct access to content that assists with matters as diverse as employment agreements or collective bargaining, including practical tools such as checklists, document precedents and direct links to relevant external content at their fingertips.”

Practical Guidance is fully integrated with the MyLexisNexis deep research library. Corporates will appreciate the reduced requirement to bring in skilled professionals and consultants during research stages, since in-house resources can easily learn to use Practical Guidance. Practical Guidance solutions for Tax, Civil Procedure and Business are scheduled for release during 2013.
