Windows 11 is stuck in the past when it comes to application management. I have to hunt down individual installers every time I set up a new PC, and subsequently updating any of those programs often proves equally tedious. What Windows needs is a single, comprehensive place to install and update every app on your computer. You might point to the Microsoft Store as the exact thing I’m describing, but more than a decade of neglect by developers and Microsoft itself has left popular apps unavailable there.
Fortunately, you can turn to the free and open-source UniGetUI, which uses Microsoft’s little-known WinGet package manager. It introduces Linux-style app management features, giving you a centralised place to find, install, and update software. Put simply, it’s what I always wanted the Microsoft Store to be. Read on for everything you need to know about UniGetUI.
